Staging information arrived...Jan 5, 2009
About a week ago i got my staging information and i will be flying from Charlotte to DC on Monday Jan, 26. Here my iternary for the following two days:
pretty intense two days??? im excited. My plane will take me from DC -> Brussels (Belgium) -> Kigali, Rwanda!

I finally received my Invitation to Rwanda Leaving January 26, 2009! i will be doing HIV/AIDS Community Outreach!

Let The Waiting Begin… May 27, 2008

So i check my online toolkit for the Peace Corps and this is what i see:
Medical- Complete. A decision has been reached regarding your medical review. Please look for a letter in the mail.
Talk about FREAK ME OUT! so i pull out the phone numbers to call the medical offices and find out what that statement means. I get scared and hang up on the same lady 3 times because i don’t know what to say! so i finally get the nerve to ask her what that means and she transfers me over to this really nice guy! He tells me that I am cleared with no restrictions !! YAY! And then he proceeds to say that its nice to deliver good news! is bad news an everyday occurrence??? I’m pretty sure i would start crying if he told me that i wasn’t healthy enough to go!
So, What happens next??
well, i wait. i have a placement officer and in a few weeks i should call her and talk to me about where i’m going.
everyday i have compulsively looked up information about the peace corps…anything from blogs, facebook groups, and even pictures. stalking. yes.

This has been the story of my life since January when it comes to Peace Corps stuff. i decided to start a blog to show people what its like and to maybe inspire them to join.
I Started to Apply in January, 2008. This involved writing 2 essays, a resume, transcripts, 3 references, answering background questions concerning debt, children, and felonies ,a volunteer log, and a brief, 100 question medical form.
In February, 2008, I was called to do an interview…
On March 5, 2008, i was officially nominated for Sub-Sahara Africa in January 2009 doing community services.
On March 7, 2008 Peace Corps mailed my medical packet which consisted of an EXTENSIVE trip to the doctor, trip to the dentist, a trip to the eye doctor. April 24, 2008 Peace Corps recieved my medical packet. After,
2 trips to the doctor
a FULL physical
8 tubes of blood
urine test
polio shot
tb test
female stuff
3 trips to the dentist
x-rays
1 trip to the eye doctor
lots of signatures from doctors….
i finally receive medical and dental clearance! YAY!
now i am waiting for my placement! i dont really expect to hear from that for at least a couple of months. so now im just sitting, waiting, wishing….
